Random Thoughts

Perhaps I'll lighten the mood around these parts by filling you in on my life. As I write this, I'm 'watching' Barbie and The Three Musketeers on youtube. Basically, I'm the AV kid who clicks onto the next part ensuring no young minds 'accidentally' click some crazy modified version of Barbie as a porn star.

At my last doctor's appointment, I finally received a normal blood test result. Finally. I still have insomnia, yet I'm trying to take Ambien as few nights as possible. Perhaps three nights a week.

I hope to do some decorating today, although cleaning is the first priority. I swear my dog tracks in every trace of dirt and mud in our yard. I also hope to bake some gingerbread cookies. It shouldn't be too overwhelmingly difficult because I made the dough last night.

I've been experimenting with all your wonderful ideas for our Compassionate Friends craft. We did decide upon felt ornaments. At first, I thought we'd stick with just stars but after getting started, I realized stars might not hold the same meaning for everybody. So, I made several templates of various symbols (e.g., heart, snowflake, gingerbread man, dove) that people can choose from and hopefully feel they can add their own personal touch. We'll provide several colors felt from which to choose, along with various colors of floss and a myriad of beads or sequins to accent the ornaments. I'll post pictures once I have more of an assortment. Thank you. Your ideas have been so incredibly helpful and have made this craft so much more meaningful than simply picking an idea from a book.

Tonight I'm attending an 'As Seen on TV' gift exchange with other women. I bought these plastic attachments for soda cans, which supposedly make the drink 'spill-proof'. Whatever. I'm just now realizing it might be a tad uncomfortable because I have no idea, other than the hostess and one other woman, who will attend. Both the hostess and the other woman I know do know my 'story', so that's reassuring. But I'm just not very skilled at branching into new territory these days, as I'm sure many of you can relate.

I wish you all a peaceful day. I best get back to Barbie. Her cat is demonstrating some sweet Musketeer moves.

Oh, I like the idea of the felt ornaments! Smart to pick something inclusive. I look forward to seeing photos.

And I'm so glad to hear that you got back some normal blood work from your doc!!! That's wonderful news.

Mmmmm. Gingerbread. My favorite holiday cookie to make is my grandma's gingersnaps recipe, but I'm thinking I may need to skip it this year thanks to the gestational diabetes. SIGH. I'll enjoy the amazing smell of ginger cooking vicariously through you. :)

Great to hear about the bloodwork. I hope your As Seen on TV party went well, I know those parties can cause anxiety when you are surrounded by women and you know kids, babies, families will become a topic of discussion.
